This is an exciting new opportunity to join our organisation and contribute to its establishment as a significant centre for the commercialisation of world-class scientific research. We’re looking for an experienced professional to work with the CEO to instigate, drive and deliver a cohesive translation and commercialisation strategy for the institute, support technology exploitation, and network nationally with relevant industrial partners.

You’ll take a strategic lead in delivering the Royce’s commercialisation activities and industrial/ research development programmes and implement a cohesive translation strategy to maximise the exploitation and impact of Advanced Materials science at the Royce. You’ll lead the co-ordination of industrial partnering and business engagement activities for the Royce and be responsible for developing and implementing a cohesive strategy for a sustainable future, driving new funding opportunities from a range of sources.

Working collaboratively with a small, dedicated senior team, you’ll build and maintain strong relationships with the relevant funding bodies, government departments and policy-makers, so that the Royce can capitalise on funding opportunities and policy changes. You will also negotiate and manage academic/ industrial research collaborations, ensuring that projects are established and coordinated appropriately and that deliverables are met and suitably reported.

Experience of working in an interdisciplinary research environment, and a degree or equivalent in science or engineering are both essential requirements. You’ll have a track record of success in coordinating large grant applications and bids, or securing external income, and you will be target driven with a good understanding of how companies engage with academic partners. Your relationship management and influencing skills will be key in this role, combined with interpersonal skills that focus on clarity, simplicity and, importantly, results.
